What is new with the SMART Exchange?
A: The new Exchange has an increased focus on digital classroom resources and is the new home for all of SMART’s digital education resources and shortly after launch will be the only place to go to access resources. The ‘Educator Resources’ section of education.smarttech.com will be retired once all of the content has been migrated to the Exchange – expected to be complete before January 2010.
Why is the new SMART Exchange a ‘beta’?
A: The objective is to create a place for teachers like you to connect with colleagues and share resources. The SMART Exchange is off to a great start but updates, including new features will be introduced and tested during this beta period in an effort to deliver the best user experience. Your feedback is invaluable during this period. The SMART Exchange team hopes to hear from you soon at smartexchange@smarttech.com
What countries does the Exchange support?
A: The SMART Exchange will support the following countries as of September 2009: Canada, USA, England, Germany, Spain, Italy, Austria, Belgium, France, Switzerland, Australia, New Zealand, Algeria, Morocco, and Tunisia. Support for additional countries is scheduled for the future.
Does the country chosen on the site influence the resources I’m searching?
A: Each of the supported countries has local resources organized by subject and grades that are appropriate for that region. Changing your country/language selection will allow you to search content within another region.
How can I switch countries if I’d like to search for international content?
A: To access resources and the community forum for a different country or language, click on the flag in the top-right corner of the website. This will open a country selector page that will let you load up the Exchange in a different country/language. Each country has local resources organized by the subject and grades that are appropriate for that region.
What do my colleagues need to know about the new SMART Exchange?
A: The SMART Exchange is a new one-stop destination designed to provide teachers with access to all of SMART’s educator resources and the opportunity to connect with colleagues in a professional learning community. The Exchange has been designed to save teachers time in their search for interactive resources – a custom designed search delivers relevant results and a full visual preview of all Notebook files allows teachers to easily evaluate a lesson before downloading.
Will the SMART Exchange include teacher and SMART created content?
A: Yes. The SMART Exchange is the new resources destination for teaching in today's technology enabled classrooms.
How do I find resources that were organized in folders on the old SMART Exchange?
A: The names of the folders where content was previously uploaded will become search terms attached to resources so that resources can still be found. For example, if you previously searched for content within the Texas User Group, a search for “Texas User Group” will return file previously uploaded to this folder.
Will educators need to sign in?
A: No. You do not need to register or sign in to search, preview, download or share resources. Sign in is only required if you wish to connect with teachers within the community forum.
After I share content, can files be edited or updated?
A: No. At the time of launch, file edits and updates will not be available on the SMART Exchange. Please let us know if this is a feature you would like to see.
Will there be a file size maximum for uploads?
A: No. Sharing will not be restricted by file size...
How is the new SMART Exchange related to the SMART Learning Marketplace?
A: The SMART Learning Marketplace is a fee-based premium content service that offers resources from a select number of publishers. The current version of the SMART Learning Marketplace is being phased out in favor of upcoming content projects, beginning with the SMART Exchange.
Is SMART interested in my comments or feedback on the new SMART Exchange?
