Idea [I] Back to School Lesson Activity Contest

Go back to school with SMART and you could win. We’re looking for your best back-to-school themed lesson activity created with Notebook™ collaborative learning software. The person who submits the best lesson activity will receive a SMART classroom package worth over US$3,500, including a SMART Board™ 600i interactive whiteboard system and an annual subscription to the SMART Learning Marketplace, a subscription service with over a million digital resources.

    How to enter
Create a lesson activity that could be used for back-to-school teaching. For example, lesson activities could introduce classroom rules, explore how students spent their summer vacation or review concepts from the previous year. Lesson activities can focus on any subject or be cross-curricular. Activities that use features in Notebook software, video, sound, Adobe® Flash®, screen captures, links and other interactive tools will be given preference.

To submit your lesson activity, take the following steps:

    1.      If you haven’t already, join the SMART Exchange

    2.      Click the Downloads tab at the top of the page

    3.      Select the Lesson Activity Contest folder from the Browse Folders section

    4.      Click the Upload button to navigate to the Upload File page

    5.      Click on File/URL. An upload window will appear. Complete the following steps:

                        a)      Click the Browse button and attach the lesson activity file
                        b)      Enter a title in the Name field
                        c)      Enter the grade level and a brief description of your lesson activity in the Description field
                        d)      Enter keywords in the Tags field [note: Tags must be separated by a semi-colon and a space.]
                        e)      Click the Save button to finish

You can upload as many lessons activities as you want until June 3, 2008. A panel of SMART experts will select the top 20 entrants. The activity that receives the most votes from SMART Exchange members will be the winner.

    Contest details
Your lesson activity must adhere to the following the guidelines:

    • Lesson activities must be created in Notebook software 9.5 or higher. Download the latest version.
    • All lesson activities must be a minimum of five pages long
    • Lesson activities must be easily adaptable by other teachers
    • All submissions must comply with copyright laws
    • View a complete list of the contest terms and conditions.

I accidentally uploaded the wrong file.  Can it be deleted?  I need the Critical Thinking - Sudoku file to be deleted so that I can upload the correct one.  PLEASE!!!

    Thanks!

Re: Back to School Lesson Activity Contest

I've been working on a lesson to submit for the past several weeks, have been fine tuning it and was nearly ready to submit it.  When looking online today, I realized that someone else has alreasdy submitted a lesson nearly identical to mine.  I had no idea it was there until right now!  Am I still eligible to submit mine or once an idea has been submitted are others considered ineligible?  I was really excited about my lesson, but it's very very similar.  Thank you for your assistance.

    Dogata,

Yes you can still submit your lesson. Variations on a theme are welcome. It will not disqualify the prior submission or your own. Thanks for working so hard on your lesson!

     Best,

    Erica

I did not find a place to submit our name, school or other information about us for the contest. I assume we are contacted because of our forum login.

Can you please remove my email address that shows up on the submitted contest: Back to School. I did not mean for that to happen.

    Thank you,

    Cwepe,

You're correct. We have your contact information from the form you filled in to become a member of the SMART Exchange. I also removed your e-mail address as you had requested.

    Best,

    Erica

Re: Back to School Lesson Activity Contest

Hi! I hope you can help me out!

I just uploaded a submission for the Back to School contest. There are two problems with it.

One: I realized I spelled "Differentiation" wrong in the title of my submission (aargh!)

Two: I thought my comment section didn't post so I paraphrased and re-typed it and then it showed up! Now it sounds like I'm going on and on about the same thing. Is there a way to delete the comment in the bottom section?

Thanks in advance for your help.

     Hi Meenal,

You should be able to edit this data for your entry.  When you go to your entry here, do you see a button that says EDIT?  If so, click on it and you'll be able to change the title, description, tags and comments.

Please let me know if this doesn't work.

    Hi mkatz,

Did you select Back to School folder? It should be just above the list of lessons already downloaded in that folder.

I cannot find it there either, glad I am not the only one.  Can we still upload our lessons?

Can you try it again? It should be working. Please let me know if it's not.

Re: Back to School Lesson Activity Contest

I did find the edit button but it won't let me change the title. Also, I'm okay with the comments section I wrote when I uploaded my program but I would like to delete a comment I wrote in the follow-up section where others usually respond.

    I hope this makes sense.

    Thanks
